One of the handiest bits of "equipment" to the idea searcher may be an inquisitive child. The best place for him may prove to be, not the quiet spot on a mountain top he dreams of, away from people, but in a battle of wits with his children. The number of questions a child can ask is astonishing. Why are handkerchiefs square? Why is soap slippery? Why is a clock called a clock?
A list of questions has been devised to keep you moving on a straight track instead of foggily in a circle. These questions will help you quickly analyze an ordinary problem; enable you to see all around it completely, get at its hidden values, give you many fresh ideas, talking points and idea-seeds.
Every newspaper reporter is familiar with the five questions - what, who, when, where, why. These are a good beginning for any analysis of a situation. Using these, you should seek every possible association of your subject - the subjects closely related to it in any practical way.
What?
Begin any search for ideas with a definition. Just what is the problem or the thing? Of what is it composed, and of what other materials might it be made? Thus the use of plastics for metals saves vast quantities of useful natural resources. What is the purpose, and can an additional purpose be found for it, as a truck that moves from town to town and also houses its occupants (the trailer); or a hassock that opens on top and provides space for little oddments inside.
Who?
Who are the people concerned. Every product or idea is good only as far as it is suitable, and available to the people for whom it is intended. You must know the buyer, the audience, the user, the reader, or whatever group you wish to appeal to. You must keep your idea within the range of their capacity to use, enjoy and pay. Think of the people - their needs, tastes, comforts. Think too of the people who will be engaged in producing the product. This often opens up new angles.
When?
When is it used? Can it be used at another time? For instance basic dresses, which may be worn day or evening by a simple change of accessories. Or a canned fruit, which may be preserved in summer for use in winter. Or a book of the month plan which functions recurrently.
Where?
Some ideas can be transplanted from another part of the world. A few years ago someone traveling in Japan found that the natives used only paper handkerchiefs. The practice impressed the traveler for its sanitary, disposable quality, and when he returned, he invented a modern, better way based on this idea, and gave us Kleenex. He also gave us by way of his advertising, countless additional uses for the same product, and was among the first to awaken other people to the value of paper for kitchen and household uses.
Why?
Can you find additional reasons "why" for its use, other virtues or values to exploit in it that make a stronger idea? Some products have such values that are never even realized by users. Thus few people who used a certain well-known soap, knew that there was a reason why there was a little indentation in the top of it. But when the piece was well worn down, you could fit it into this recess of a new cake the two wet pieces merging and thus eliminating waste scraps. Look for these plus values.
How?
Another important question is How. By analyzing all the processes and methods, new ideas and improvements may be discovered. Thus, crinkled hairpins or bobby pins that stay put. Another manufacturer roughened his paper clips, causing them to hold papers together more securely, and made a large fortune on this small improvement. Consider how it was made and whether it can be made a more convenient way, as windows, which may be washed from inside the room.
With these simple questions as your basis, you will be able to generate any number of great ideas. Good luck!

Need Clients for your Freelance Writing Business? Here are Six Proven Tips
If you would like your writing business to go from sporadic hobby to full-time career (with full-time benefits and income), you need to understand the business of writing. There's nothing more important to your business success than knowing how to get clients. It's a great time to be a writer--but only if you know where to find and how to land clients. If you want to transition your writing life from part-time job to career, here are six proven methods of getting clients.
Getting clients is one of those great mysteries of the writing life. It's a mystery because the writers who can do it rarely talk about it.
And there are a lot of things people believe about this that are just plain wrong.
Here are six ways to get clientssome of which you may not have thought of before. These techniques are appropriate for landing new clients, winning back former clients, and stimulating more business from your regulars.
First, build your network. Networking is one of those things that a lot of people talk about but few people really grasp. For a professional writer, your network is made of the individuals (not the companies, not the industries, not the departments, not the publications) who might hire you. You need to keep tabs on these people. That means holiday cards, occasional e-mails or phone calls, and reminders about your business. I would say that 60% of my business today comes from somebody who knew me (somebody in my network). This is your richest field for business ... mine it!
By the way, people hire writers. Let's say a person at Company A has worked with you for a while when he quits to take a new job at Company B. Guess what? You're now more likely to get your next writing job from Company B than Company A, but if you play your cards right, you may be able to stay on at Company A, too. People are loyal to people; companies are loyal only accidentally.
Second, talk about what you do. Don't become the abominable dinner guest, but make sure you let people know what you do. People know people and believe it or not, there are actually people who are scratching their heads trying to find a writer. Don't belabor the issue, but make sure your friends, neighbors, guests, acquaintances, and mailman know what you do. I once got a year-long gig from a contact my mom made in a bowling alley! (She told one of the bowlers on the other team what I did for a livingand I got a phone call from the other lady's daughter a few days later. She was looking for a very specific type of writer!)
Third, don't overlook sites like e-lance and other places where freelance talent can bid on jobs. True, it's a bazaar on those sites and you will see crazy offers (like "write 100 articles for $12, must be able to complete assignment in three hours") but there are some very respectable businesses that use those sites. Be discerning, but check it out. I use these sites to fill will what I call "dead time," those periods of the year when my business slows down. I've never not made money working these sitesbut you can't bid on every job there. Some of those jobs aren't worth having!
Fourth, develop your own website that promotes your own services. Most creative people do sites that are really online portfolios; that's interesting but I don't think it brings in a lot of work. Instead, use your site to discuss your ideas about writing, your areas of expertise, and those sorts of things. You can always talk samples once a client calls. A year ago, I would not have listed this as a strategy because although I had a website, it did not bring in any business. It now hasI have found a pretty strong new client who came to me on the strength of the website.
(Mostly a website is something that is nice to have to help confirm to your new client that he or she made a good choice. People look at your website, but they don't find writers that way. I think that's changing.)
Fifth, try direct mail. You have to be very clever with this. You need a strong sales letter and you need to send it by first-class mail to a real person. The less is looks like direct mail (a.k.a. junk mail) the more likely it will get through. Put a real stamp on it. Address it to a real person, even by hand. Your letter should pitch your business.
You have to scope out target clients. Find some businesses that might need your services, call to find out who hires freelance writers, and send a letter directly to that person. Call a few days later. This is a tough program because you need to keep after it, but it does work, particularly if you are diligent and target the right folks and have a compelling sales letter. This is the best way to get new clients; in my experience, it works better than cold calling, which I have never had much success with. (Not to mention the fact that it's less fun than going to the dentist.)
Sixth, contact a newspaper and pitch a column. Don't just contact random newspapers, but don't be shy about approaching major papers or local hometown newspapers. Look it over, see what's missing, write up a sample column or two, and pitch it by e-mail or letter directly to the appropriate editor. I got my first major writing job that way (I was a stringer for Variety) and the second time I tried it, I got a job writing a column that is entering its fifth year. This works. Two drawbacks: it usually doesn't pay well and you have to be very careful and make sure you target your offering to the newspaper's needs.
I'm pretty sure you could land yourself a gig as a movie critic or a lifestyle expert or a medical writer. You need to be a matchmaker, though. Don't propose anything unless it seems like a perfect fit for the newspaper.
You may be excited about that last idea but think for a minute. Who needs a low-paying writing job? Well, maybe you do. Regular appearances in an important publication build your credibility as a writer. You can often parlay those writing credits into more lucrative (but less visible) writing jobs in similar industries. Newspapers help fill out your clip files, and sometimes you can re-sell articles or use a body of research to generate similar stories for better-paying magazines or websites.
Writing is a great life, but a lot of it is work, and work is work. Getting clients is not easy for any professional and writers have to do the same amount of chattering, networking, direct mailing, and scouting out opportunities that other people do.
What's amazing to me is that some of these things work really well. Very often, when you do connect with a great long-term client, you'll hear another side to the story. Many businesses dream of finding a reliable, high-quality writer. Right now there are companies and clients wondering how on earth they are ever going to get their brochures and articles and press releases and websites written.
Your job is not "selling" them your services. Your job is really just making sure they know that you're there and ready for assignment.

What is Success? The Definition, Interpretation, and Advice on How to Achieve Success
Do you want to be successful? Do you even know what that means? Success today is measured by many individual standards, and never by any one uniformed standard. Many times an individual doesn't even know what success looks like until that individual achieves some level of success. And even then the measure of success for Johnny might be a million dollars and a house in the Hampton's; where as the measure of success for Jimmy is a wife, two kids, a dog named Scruffy, and a house in a cul-de-sac. So who is to tell you or I just what success is; and for that matter how to achieve success?
Well, first let's look at the definition of success, and then we will go on from there. The Encarta Dictionary: English (North American Version) explains success as follows:
Success - suc-cess (noun) The achievement of intention; the achievement of something planned or attempted.
By that definition anything that we set out to do and accomplish is success. So if I set out to go and pick up the trash in my yard and I accomplish that task; I by definition am successful, right! Perhaps by definition, yes; but by modern standards and interpretations; I would not be considered a successful man for performing such a menial task.
The modern day, and Americanized version of the definition of success (by interpretation) usually means: The achievement of something not easily achieved. By our modern day standard I may not be considered successful unless I have gained wealth, power, or have achieved notoriety and fame. These are some of the factors by which we gage success.
I would submit that a true concise definition of success could never be formulated. Why? Because everyone seems to have their own version of the definition, as well they should. I may not consider myself successful unless I have a yacht, a house on the lake, a million dollars and a riding lawn mower. Your definition of success might be more expansive or even simpler. You may not consider yourself a success unless you have a house in the suburbs, a working car, a good job, and a loving family.
Whatever your personal definition of success; there is usually one common denominator. Happiness! What creates happiness for you? I would suggest that if you are truly happy in life, then you are successful. Without happiness you can't have success.
So how do you achieve success? You start by figuring out exactly what makes you happy. Figure out what you want in life; what will make this life a fabulous life for you. Then you go get it. That's it! You figure out a way to get it, and you do.
In this great country, everyone has an equal shot at achieving success. As long as you are willing to do what it takes to achieve success; you have the opportunity to do so. Success is achieved by the strong in mind.
So, here's to your success; I wish you the best!

How I Built a Career
The Five Types of Goals - Part 1 - The Start of Reason, Is Not Realistic!
Many people equate success with money, power, and fame. In actuality a truly successful person is much more than that; or at least should be. In order to achieve success you must first set out to do so. One of the most important steps to your achievement is setting goals that you can work towards and conquer. A person of great success will have set and have mastered, or strived to master goals in the following five types of goals.
Financial Goals:
Perhaps the most common type of goal! Everyone wants to be wealthy. Your financial goals will determine how wealthy. In designing your financial goals you have to decide how much money that you want to make per month, per year, per ten years, and so on. You can make goals that deal with investments (how much do you want to make out of your investments) and the segmenting of your business (how much money do you want to make from different segments of your business), etc...
You want to try and keep your goals within reason but not within reality. When people claim to be realistic they are usually just setting a low bar for themselves and are cutting down their potential. Let me give you an example:
A reasonable man might set goals like, "I am going to make $500, 000.00 this year. And next year I want to make $1,000,000.00. The year after that I want to double what I have made". Those would be reasonable goals. If you think that those goals can never be accomplished then I would submit to you that you are trying to be to realistic, and are thereby missing a greater, bigger picture.
A realistic man sets goals like, "I am going to make $80,000.00 this year (maybe). Next year I am going to ask my boss for a raise and start making $120,000.00. Then I will invest more in my 401K, and try to make good investments to increase my profit". Now if all of that is your goal; well, they are not bad goals. But they are short fall goals. You can do better. A lot better! You just need to start thinking beyond your reality, and step into the reality of a successful entrepreneur.
Now an unreasonable man might set goals that defy all logic and reason. These goals might sound like, "I am going to make 1,000,000,000.00 this next year and quadruple that next year". That is an unreasonable goal, because although technically doable, it is almost impossible to make that kind of money unless you have already established substantial wealth. So yes that may be doable for Donald Trump (even for him that might be a stretch) or Bill Gates (not such a stretch), but probably not doable for someone just starting out on their financial goals.
Keep in mind, that in this great country, millionaires are made (by their own ambition) every day. Set your bar high, because that bar can be reached. And, you will reach that bar if you are determined, and prove yourself to be worthy in reaching it. Just don't set the bar so high that you need a space ship to reach it.
Business Goals:
Business goals are the goals that will make you the money for your financial goals. Business goals can also inspire greatness in you and in those around you. You have to determine what type of business do you want to own (I recommend owning your own business for the greatest profitability). Perhaps you don't want to own a business. You are not the entrepreneurial type. No problems; then you just need to set a goal on which company you would like to work for, and how far you want to go within that company (not so recommended, but still fine if that is what "floats your boat").
Business goals can also include investments. What type of investments; and how many do you want? You should also plan and set a goal for where you want your business to go. Perhaps you want to branch out and create several businesses. Maybe set a goal for how many employees you would like to have. How many business partners you might have; so on and so forth. All of this would be included in your business goals.
So far we have covered the two types of goals that are usually associated with success; Financial Goals, and Business Goals. But what about the three other types of goals? Those three other types are equally as important to your success. You can not be truly successful without an understanding and desire to master all of the five types of goals.

Five Types of Goals - Part 2 - What Will Define Your Success!
There are five types of goals that must be understood and attempted to master, in order for an individual to be able to claim true success. In the article, the "Five Types of Goals (Part 1)", the first two types of goals were given and explained. These two types are Financial Goals and Business Goals. The following is the explanation of the remaining three goals:
Personal Goals:
These are the goals that keep us alive. Many people associate these goals as being the "Kick the Bucket" type goals. That is when you make a list of goals entitled "50 things I want to do before I die" (example). Many people if not most people have at one time or another made a similar type list. And most people that have made a list like that have not, nor will ever accomplish everything on those lists. That is an absolute shame! Truly successful individuals will not let a personal goal go unaccomplished.
Now, there are two things wrong with a list entitled "50 things I want to do before I die". #1- No man is guaranteed another day. #2- in the list title it stipulates the phrase "I want to do".
How about making a list of goals entitled "50 things that I am Going To Do this year"! Then perhaps another list, 50 things that I am going to do next year; or this month, or in my lifetime, etc... Make as many lists as you want. Your goals on this list will help you see what type of person you are. Your goals on this list may also help you figure out how to set your Financial Goals (you may need some serious money) and your Business Goals (you may need a flexible business). Just do something great for yourself: Accomplish These Goals!
Personal Goals can be anything that you want to accomplish personally. Do you want to find a spouse? Make it a goal! Do you want to backpack through Italy? Make it a goal! How about finish your college education, or take your kids on a trip to Disney World, or go scuba diving in a sunken ship of the coast of a Caribbean Island? Make it a Goal! You get the gist! Just make sure any goal you make, you accomplish.
Personal Goals can also be intermixed with your other goals. For instance: it is a personal goal of mine to create success in as many people as possibly can (I even set numbers for this goal). This is a personal goal; but it is also a business goal; as the accomplishment of my goal will benefit both my personal goals, and my business goals.
Another intermixing might be if you really want to go on vacation to Las Vegas. And, you also want to show your appreciation to your employees for a job well done. Make it a business trip and "kill two birds with one stone" (Business trips can be tax deductible as well).
A charitable goal may also be considered a personal goal. "I want to give $100,000.00 dollars to a needy and worthy cause this year"! That would be a great personal goal. Personal goals are usually those that make you feel good.
Asset Goals:
These are the goals referred to as "stuff"! Make a list of stuff that you wish to acquire as you accomplish your goals. Things like a house on the pacific coast; a 70 foot Yacht, or a vacation house in Hawaii. If those seem too big to start: how about setting some asset goals on things you can achieve quickly: A new deck for your house; a Jacuzzi on that deck; or maybe a new car; or kitchen remodel. Whatever the case, have something to work towards. What good is having money if you don't spend it on anything?
Spiritual Goals:
Whatever religion you may be; whatever you believe in; spiritual goals are an important aspect to anyone's success. I could write a book on spiritual goals (I will keep this short), but it all boils down to the individual and what it is that they believe and how they act on their beliefs.
Over 80 percent of the CEO's to fortune 500 companies attend church on a regular basis. Faith is a part of their success. 80 Percent! There has got to be something to that, right! Well there is.
Your spiritual goals can include anything from research and deciding on spiritual beliefs, to researching and growing in faith in your already decide spiritual belief. As an example: My spiritual goal is not only to grow in my faith, but also read the whole bible, cover-to-cover, by April of next year. I have set the goal and am taking steps to accomplish my goal.
Spiritual goals add a level of enlightenment to uncontrollable and daunting questions. Having spiritual beliefs can greatly add to your success, understanding, and happiness; but is of course not an absolute requirement (recommended though).
Conclusion:
In conclusion, your goals will be what define your success. Your willingness to strive and accomplish your goals in all five of these goal types, will determine how successful you will be. A successful man sets the bar high and strives to fly ten feet over the top of that bar. An unsuccessful man will set the bar low, and try not to look up as he walks under the bar.
To those lottery winners out there who claim to be successful, I say to you "Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn some of the time"!

Clarity Begins At Home - Getting Out Of Your Own Way
Before you begin a thing, remind yourself that difficulties and delays quite impossible to foresee are ahead. You can only see one thing clearly and that is your goal. Form a mental vision of that and cling to it through thick and thin. (Kathleen Norris)
If we are ever in doubt about what to do, it is a good rule to ask ourselves what we shall wish on the morrow that we had done. (John Lubbock)
The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don't define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them. (Denis Waitley)
We can be our own worst enemy at times. How often can you see that it was you who actually got in your own way on the path to fulfilling a goal? It was usually only a thought that got in the way! Something that you made up...so, you could make up something else. A replacement thought that empowers you.
Write down as many of the discouraging thoughts that you can recall, from those times you actually stopped yourself. Alongside each of these, record a replacement thought that really gives you some power. What could you put in place so that you remember to replace your negative thoughts with an empowering thought? An automatic pop up on your computer screen? A colourful card sitting up on your desk or pasted to the front of your diary?
Most days we say some horrid things to ourselves and we aren't even conscious that the tape is playing! Consider also, the people with whom you surround yourself. Are there people with whom you could spend more time? Are there people with whom you could spend less time?
Lastly, when exploring your 2004 New Year resolutions - here are a few pointers to send you on your way:
Are your intended outcomes crystal clear to you and do you have them somewhere on display for yourself - in words or images? Do you have powerful reasons for wanting to accomplishing your chosen goals? Make a practice of writing down your 6 top priority goals, daily. It is worth those extra 5 minutes each day - recreating your desire for reaching that next stepping stone.
Are your New Year resolutions feasible? Are the deadlines too tight? Could your goals be broken down into bite sized chunks (i.e. milestones along the way). You may easily become discouraged if your goals seems impossible to achieve. This can chip away at your confidence in going after what you want. A strong belief in your goals is mandatory.
Have you put something in place to really celebrate each milestone victory, great or small? This will expand your personal confidence. Reward the source of your results.

7 Tips to Keeping New Year Resolutions!
New Year Resolutions! We make 'em, and then we break 'em. Did you know that 2008 is a beginning year of a 9 year cycle in numerology? This is a great time to make some changes. However, many of us have grand ideas about personal change, only to find that it is all forgotten by the second weekend of January. Here are my suggestions to setting successful New Year resolutions.
First off, make them. New Year's can be a good time to evaluate last year's goals and set new goals. Your birthday can be another great time to set yearly goals and resolutions. The definition of insanity is to keep doing what you have always done, expecting different results. So, make a goal, set a New Year's resolution.
Next, keep it simple. You might need to lose 100 pounds, but start with 10 pound weight loss goal. This is called the salami method. You can't eat a whole salami at once, but you can eat it, one slice at a time. Once you have made your mini goal, set a new one.
In line with keeping it simple, pick 2 or 3 small changes that move you towards your goal. Here are some examples for this weight loss theme. If you have not been exercising, commit to walking 15 minutes 3 times a week or park farther away and walk. Pick something doable for your diet changes. This could be eating breakfast or not super sizing your lunch. The point is, pick something small that you can commit to and do it.
Write down your goal. Most folks fail to reach their goals simply because they did not write them down. Get a notebook for your goal, write it down and log your progress.
Next, tell a friend about your goal. Better yet, get a friend to share your resolution with and help each other stay on task. Check in regularly with each other. That could be by meeting at the gym one day a week or a phone call. It is harder to make excuses; your friend will not let you off the hook.
Important.... As the Nike ad says "Just Do It!" People will do what they really want. You can fit these small changes into your life. Why? You are worth it. You are worth being healthier, physically fit, slimmer, richer, happier, or whatever you want. You will not get there, unless you do it. So "Do It!"
Lastly, make a commitment on your calendar to review your progress. Weekly is good. Look for the times you where able to keep the change and the times you choose not to keep the change. What do you need to do to keep implementing this small change in your life for the next week? If you need to change something, do it. This will keep you on your goal track.
If traditional medicine is not working for you, check out http://healthworksenergyhealing.com/ I wish you a very Happy New Year and successful fulfillment of your yearly goals.

With every New Year comes the chance to have more, be more, and get more of what you are looking for in life. It is the opportunity to open up your horizons and reach out a little further. Perhaps you know exactly what you want. Or maybe you know that you just don't want it to be the same as last year.
I understand. Routine and habit have made your life a bit boring and predictable and you look around and wonder, why can I not have that? Why can I not do that?
Well, you can.
It is simple. Hire a life coach specializing in success. Just like Michael Jordan one of the best basketball players of all time had a coach to make him better and achieve more, you too can have someone on your sidelines helping you with the right plays to get the life you have always wanted.

Then we deal with each issue and solve it. This ensures that you will be able to maintain the changes and continue to grow and develop in ways that will make you successful permanently and not just a few weeks.
Step 5Build a support system and learn to use your resources efficiently and effectively to optimize goal success. Using everything and everyone you have to help you is another way that guarantees that you have what you need in place to move forward in a manner that is much easier and maintained in the long run. So, this year approach it from an angle of achieving success and having it be different than your past. If it was so easy to do on your own, you would have done it already. Avoiding Failure - How To Stick With Your New Year's Resolutions
Now that we are officially into 2008, how are your New Year's Resolutions going? Are you off to a strong start or have you given up already? Hopefully, you are committed to achieving your goals and are off to a running start. But, if you are like most people, your resolutions will soon be forgotten. There are many reasons that resolutions fail so quickly. The good news is that by becoming aware of the reasons they fail, you can change your actions and help achieve your goals. Let's take a look at the most common sources of failure and how you can overcome each one.
1. Too large of a goal. It's great to shoot for the stars by setting a large goal. It is important that the large goal be broken down into smaller, more manageable and measurable goals. These goals should also be realistic. If your goal is to run a marathon this year, you should already have some running experience to build upon. If you don't currently run, this goal is too large and not very realistic. To increase your current mileage, you would need a specific training program that gradually increases the distance and time you run each week. Without these smaller steps, you won't be able to achieve the larger goal.
2. No plan. Having a plan is critical to success but is one of the reasons that many people fail to achieve their goals. The first step is to write down your goal and define it carefully. Then, write down in detail how you will achieve it. Be very specific and include details such as how and when. This plan is your roadmap to success. The more specific and measurable the plan, the better. Having a written plan will keep you on track and moving forward.
3. Lack of discipline/accountability. Many people lack the discipline and accountability to reach their goals on their own. This can be easily overcome by recruiting an accountability partner such as a friend or family member. Find someone that has a similar goal and help keep other accountable and motivated. Enlist whatever help and resources you think you'll need before you need them.
4. Procrastination. Procrastination is one of the leading reasons that resolutions fail. Have you ever said that you'll start a diet next week? Then next week comes and you don't start the diet? There's no time like the present to get started!
5. Too many goals. Having too many goals can sabotage your success and become overwhelming. The best way to overcome having too many goals is to narrow down your list to one or two goals and focus on only a couple of things at a time. As soon as you achieve those goals, you can move down your list.
As you set your goals for 2008, keep in mind some of the reasons that resolutions often fail and consider the potential roadblocks to achieving your goals. Facing these roadblocks up front will prepare you to overcome them. Log your progress along the way. This log can help you through tougher times along the way when you may feel like giving up. It is encouraging to see how far you have come already and motivate you to keep going. Even baby steps will get you a little bit closer to your goal. And last, but not least, remain flexible and willing to adjust your plan if necessary. Sometimes you may need to take a detour along the way so it is very helpful to be flexible. Don't get discouraged and let this throw you completely off course. Stay committed and keep going!

How I Built a Career

12 Steps To Becoming A Best-Selling Author
Dan Poynter, author of The Self-Publishing Manual, defines a bestseller is an author who has successfully sold 35,000 copies of their book. However, it is also possible, that if your book becomes a Top-20 book in any given week (maybe only 5,000 to 8,000) then you can become a New York Times, Wall Street Journal best-selling author. Either route you take, you will be more successful if you implement these 12 strategies listed below:
1. Keep Your Day Job: You need seed money to allow you to invest in your book and in this process. Your best source of seed money is your own income.
2. Get Your Book Published: This is the most important step in the process. Too many writers give up on the process and never see their book become real.
3. Commit Yourself To Book: The promotion of your book is something that you need to commit to for the rest of your life. If you do this, you will be successful.
4. Set A Sales Volume Goal: Set your to a minimum of 35,000 copies. Remember due to a lack of marketing, 98% of authors will never sell more than 2,000 copies.
5. Give Away Your Books For Free: Give your books away to individuals who are capable of buying in volume, hiring you to speak, coach or consult.
6. Go To Post Office 2,500 Times: Commit to going to the post office every day and shipping out a minimum of 3-5 books per day to prospects.
7. Implement an Amazon Book Campaign: This strategy will allow you to leverage many others database and achieve
8. Selling Books From Platform: Book as many speaking engagements as possible. In doing so you, you will be able successfully sell hundreds every time you speak.
9. Focus on High Volume Sales: Sell books 10,000 at a time, instead of one at a time. In doing so, the same amount of time is required to write invoices.
10. Co-Brand Your Book: Allow CEO's to do foreword in book only if they are willing to purchase large volumes in advance and pay up front.
11. Sell Out to a Major NY Publisher: Once your book is proven in marketplace, find a good agent and sell out to your rights to a publisher for a large advance.
12. Use Other People's Money: Printing books is very expensive so make sales in advance and have prospects cover all of your printing costs!
Most importantly, NEVER give up as this process will take you three times longer than you desire, cost your three times more than you budget. However the return will be 30X greater than you can imagine. I challenge you to promote, promote, promote! In doing so, you will SOAR in life and your book will also become a bestseller!
